Monday, 15th June 2020, marks more than 60 days without a single positive case of community spread of the coronavirus in Dominica. The two (2) asymptomatic positive cases who were identified from among 37 cruise ship employees repatriated on 22nd May 2020 and taken immediately into quarantine, have now both recovered and given the all clear by the health care professionals on Saturday, 13th June 2020. Hence, the total number of confirmed cases identified in Dominica to date is 18, all of whom have recovered and been discharged. Dominica for the second time in 60 days, has no active cases of the coronavirus.

My Fellow Dominicans and Residents,
It is with a sense of humble satisfaction, patriotism and thanks to the Almighty that I embrace this opportunity given to me as President of the Commonwealth of Dominica to address you on the occasion of the achievement of this milestone in our fight against the COVID-19 pandemic where we can report that 16 of the 16 confirmed cases of persons who tested positive for the coronavirus infection have recovered and been discharged from the COVID facility. Today marks 44 days since any person tested positive for the coronavirus on the island.

My Fellow Dominicans and Residents,
We live in a world where new challenges that seek to threaten our very survival continue to emerge on a regular basis. Foremost to mind is the recent outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) detected here in our island and throughout the Caribbean and indeed worldwide.
Mister Speaker, Honourable Members of the House of Assembly, Your Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, good morning.
Madam Speaker, Honourable Members of the House of Assembly,
I give thanks first of all to God Almighty for allowing us to again congregate in this August and Honourable House of Assembly. I thank you Madam Speaker most sincerely for the invitation which you extended to my wife and I to attend this sitting of the House and for me to address this the First Meeting of the Fifth Session of the Ninth Parliament.
