Hosting of First Virtual Presentation of Credentials Ceremony June 2021

Customarily, High Commissioners/Ambassadors-designate accredited to the Commonwealth of Dominica are required, with the support of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to visit the Office of the President at a mutually convenient date and time, to present their Letters of Credence to His Excellency the President prior to entering on the discharging of their official duties. This presentation usually takes place at a short ceremony in the Office of the President. This customary in-person ceremony was however placed on hold for some time owing to the extraordinary circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to the availability and convenience of modern technology, the Office of the President was able to host its first Virtual Presentation of Credentials Ceremony, on the Zoom platform, on Friday, 18th June 2021.

His Excellency Charles A. Savarin, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, warmly welcomed and received His Excellency Shibru Mamo Kedida (virtually), the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia accredited to the Commonwealth of Dominica, with residence in Havana, Cuba. Formal diplomatic relations were established between Dominica and Ethiopia in 2009.
