My Fellow Citizens and Residents,
It is always a great pleasure and honour to address you on the wonderful occasion of the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As we gather to celebrate this blessed Christmas season, I extend warm greetings to every resident of our beloved nation. This is a time filled with joy, reflection, and gratitude - a season that reminds us of the power of hope and the beauty of togetherness.
National Pledge
My Fellow Citizens, and Residents,
Today, as we mark 47 years of Independence, we do so with hearts full of pride and gratitude - for our past, our progress, and the enduring purpose that binds us together as a people.
My fellow citizens, residents and visitors, I address you with immense pride and gratitude as together we celebrate the 46th Anniversary of our Independence under the theme "Péyi Nou, Kado Nou" - "Our country, Our Gift." On this our National Day and the Forty-sixth Anniversary of the attainment of our Independence, my husband and family join me in extending heartfelt congratulations and further extend best wishes of peace, prosperity and unity to Dominicans both here and in the diaspora.
My Fellow Citizens and Residents of Dominica,
As President of the Commonwealth of Dominica, I am elated to again address you at Christmas. Christmas is undoubtedly one of the most uplifting events on both the religious and secular calendars in Dominica due to its profound significance. However, it is interesting to note how secularization is gradually diminishing the Christian essence of Christmas; and so this year I will address you on “What is the true meaning of Christmas”.
Message from Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton, DAH President of the Commonwealth of Dominica on the Occasion of the 45th anniversary of Dominica's Independence on 3rd November 2023.
