Christmas Address 2003

By
His Excellency Dr. Nicholas J. O. Liverpool, D.A.H.

As we approach the feast of Christmas let us recall the birth of Christ who was sent by His Father to bestow on us the gift of his own life. We should endeavour to bring Christ back into Christmas as we remember that He is the reason for our celebrations.

Traditionally Christmas is a time of giving and a time of sharing with each other. This joyful event invites us to remember that we are sons and daughters of God and we should be consoled with this fact, especially in those moments when the burdens to be carried appear to be too heavy.

Let us, during this Christmas Season, find it in our hearts to forgive each other and love our neighbours as ourselves as the Lord himself has commanded us to do. For it is only by so doing that we will find true Peace. We must make a determined effort to rid ourselves of resentment, fear, anger, greed, selfishness and everything else that will harden our hearts from accepting the message of Christ and following in his footsteps.

I pray that the Prince of Peace may shower his abundant blessings on all our families and all the citizens of this beloved nation during this sacred season and throughout the year ahead.

Mrs. Liverpool joins me in wishing everyone, at a time of celebration that is meaningful in all our lives, a Merry Christmas and a Peaceful and Productive New Year.

May the joy and Peace of Christmas fill your home and hearts.
